Considering the distortion of the Cuban reality by the castrist propaganda, the complicity and the presumption of innocence granted to the regime by its economic collaborators, I address you on behalf of the International Alliance of Free Cubans, and on behalf of the Cuban exiles to clarify the reality of the Cuban State and society. We aim to foster a constructive collaboration towards creating a country that respects basic Human Rights and the Rule of Law.
Ladies and gentlemen,
The Republic of Cuba today is a failed totalitarian state without the principles of separation of powers, rule of law and respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. The Cuban State is not based on the legitimate constitution of the Republic of Cuba of 1940, but on a castrist manifesto that holds the Communist Party of Cuba as "the only political force" that governs society and the State.
The Republic of Cuba continues to be one of the closest allies of the Russian Federation, Iran, China, North Korea and the country that most supports the illegitimate government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and Nicaragua through hybrid war strategies, logistical assistance and military training.
We recall that the Cuban dictatorial regime has not signed:
We recall that the Cuban dictatorial regime has not ratified:
We recall that the Cuban dictatorial regime has not accepted any special investigation procedures from the UN, nor allows any individual complaints procedures from its citizens;
We demand that the European institutions stop cooperating with the Cuban regime, which has repeatedly violated the provisional cooperation agreement between the European Union and Cuba. The Cuban exile community calls for an end to the collaboration of the European Union and its member states with the Cuban regime, and advocates for a cohesive foreign policy with the United States of America.
The Cuban people need the cooperation of the international community in order to eradicate the longest tyrannical regime in the history of our hemisphere.
We call for freedom and the return to a democratic state in Cuba.
The historic intervention of the castrist regime in foreign relations and its role in inciting violent conflicts and disturbances in the region of the Americas has been demonstrated by the authorities, the police, and the intelligence services of the United States, of Colombia , Ecuador, Chile, Bolivia, and Paraguay among others.
The reform of the centralized economy in Cuba has not materialized and the totalitarian police and judicial measures have not been abandoned. On the contrary, since the July 11th protests more than 100 people who participated in the unusual anti-government protests were sentenced to prison terms ranging from six to 30 years. Some of them minors.
Economically, the military controls the monopoly of several companies in the country. For example, GAESA (Commercial Business Group of the Armed Forces), acts as a phantom mafia state within the state, not controlled by any other state institution. This group controls Gaviota, which in turn controls all tourist facilities in the country. European economic affairs in Cuba are carried out strictly without constitutional guarantees with the Castro regime and does not benefit the Cuban people.
The Cuban State controls most of the country's economy and nearly all of its hard-earned economic activities, including communications, tourism, remittances, and human trafficking. Cuban professionals, especially the so-called medical missions are recognized as a form of slave labor subordinate to the regime.
Meanwhile the Cuban people remain in absolute poverty.
The severe repression of the castrist regime against freedom of thought, expression, press, movement, association, academic research, religion and other freedoms is a great challenge for foreign governments that have enforced the presumption of innocence to the "Government" of the Republic of Cuba. However, since the European resolution of June 10, the Cuban government has finally been recognized as a dictatorship.
The Havana regime and its relations with the Russian Federation, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and support for drug trafficking organizations such as the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the Rebel Army of Colombia (ELN) pose a threat to neighboring countries and companies in the Latin American region, the United States, and Europe.
The "castrist inteligencia" cannot be authorized to continue operating without impunity. It is not politically appropriate for Europe, nor any other country int he world to continue supporting the EU-Cuba political dialogue and cooperation agreement and to continue creating favorable conditions for the regime to continue with its activities, the implementation of a dangerous regional strategy and the repression against its own people. Cubans are victims of the continuous persecution of members of the opposition, dissidents and citizens who demand basic political, civil, economic and cultural rights.
We unequivocally ask on behalf of the free and oppressed Cuban people that Europe stand with the Cuban people and commit to supporting us in the process of democratization and liberation of our country.
With your support we will build a free, prosperous and developed country.
We ask you to help us send an urgent message to the international community on behalf of the Cuban people at the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly this coming September. The Cuban people are defenseless in the face of a military dictatorship. The situation is crucial.
Will Europe continue its collaboration with the dictatorship, or will Europe stand with the Cuban people who yearn for freedom and prosperity ?
Ladies and Gentlemen
On behalf of the Cuban people, I invite you to reconsider your relations with the Cuban dictatorship that oppresses us!
Thank you,
